Meet Amber
Naturally Twisted Photography started almost eight years ago when my other half, Jeffrey, bought me my very first DSLR Nikon camera. At the time, my plan was simple… I just wanted to take photos of bugs!
I had always been interested in photography when I was younger, but life eventually took me in other directions. It wasn’t until I lost both of my parents that photography became something much deeper for me. Photos were one of the only things I had left to hold onto their memories, and that experience completely changed how I viewed photography. I realized how powerful a single photograph can be. From that moment on, I wanted to help others capture the memories that mean the most to them.
Jeffrey and I have been together for over 12 years now—although I’m still waiting on that proposal! Haha. In all seriousness, he is truly the best and Naturally Twisted Photography wouldn’t be what it is without him. He helps run NTP behind the scenes while also operating our oil hauling business, FWP, LLC. Somehow he manages to keep everything running smoothly for both businesses.
We also have one kiddo, Morgan. She’s a Junior at Healdton High School and stays incredibly busy. She helps us with NTP, works her own job, practices softball constantly, makes straight A’s in her concurrent college classes, and still tries to find time to just be a teenager. She definitely keeps us on our toes, but we couldn’t be more proud of her.
Photography isn’t my only job. I’m also the Chamber Coordinator and the sole employee of the Healdton Chamber of Commerce, where I’ve worked for over 10 years. The Chamber has played a huge role in my growth—not just professionally, but personally. The Board members have taught me so much about running a business, staying patient, and navigating challenges when things don’t always go as planned. I will forever be grateful for their mentorship and friendship.
Another role that means the world to me is serving as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Healdton Fire Department. I’ve been on the department for nearly eight years. Being a woman in what is traditionally a man’s world hasn’t always been easy, but I couldn’t be more thankful for every single member of our department. They’ve taught me countless lessons over the years—far too many to list here. I’m incredibly proud to be part of a group that cares so deeply for our community and is willing to put their lives on the line at the drop of a tone every single day.
When I’m not working, photographing sessions, editing in my home office, or running between Chamber events and softball games, we love to travel. We try to visit somewhere new every vacation we take—especially if there’s a beautiful sunset involved.
I’m also a bit of a metal head! Metal music and concerts have always had a special place in my heart. I don’t get to attend nearly as many concerts as I’d like these days, but the love for that music will always be there.
I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. My original goal in life was simply to help people. While I may not use my degree in the traditional sense, I truly believe photography allows me to do exactly that—by helping families preserve their memories for years to come. And honestly, I’m completely okay with that.
Other than that, if I’m not at the Chamber, a photoshoot, the studio, the Fire Department, a softball game, or traveling somewhere new… you’ll probably find me planted in my recliner watching one of our favorite shows.
That pretty much sums me up. I am beyond grateful for every single person who has ever trusted me to capture their memories—whether you booked with me when I first started or just recently. Because of you, I get to continue doing what I love, and I truly appreciate every single one of you.
